What formats is my logo supplied in?

This can vary depending on usage and the design package you have selected, but your logo design package generally consists of the following:

  • * (your job).eps The artwork in Encapsulated Postscript format. This vector based format is readable by both PC and Mac desktop and publishing software. This is the file you would require for traditional reproduction (printing). It is both scalable (can be resized without any degradation in quality) and editable. It can be utilized by most commercial printers and software packages. This file contains all your new logo fonts, colors (Pantone Matching System) that will assure uniform color accuracy in all future uses.
    * (your job).gif. Your artwork as it appeared on The Factory Floor. (72 dpi 216 index color). Suitable for web or other low-res reproduction. Non platform. This file will be optimized in web-safe colors for rapid download on the web, as well as true color accuracy on all platforms and browsers. As this file is non-scalable (cannot be resized without image degradation) we supply several pixel width sizes which can all be imported into web pages 'size-is' for maximum image quality, resolution and color accuracy.
    * (your job).jpg. A hi-rez jpg version of your logo artwork. This high resolution file (300 dpi - dots per inch) can be converted and imported into most desktop publishing and word processing software that supports the tiff and/or jpg format. This file can be resized (down) and be used as monitor friendly (RGB) or print friendly (CMYK). This pixel-based image can also be imported in popular image-manipulation programs like Adobe Photoshop for special effects.
    * (your job).fax.eps A one tone (black) version of your new logo for use on faxes, invoices and other low-reproduction quality media. This logo is redrawn with this use in mind rather than simply converted in to a grayscale from the original source files. This enables the most-effective representation of your logo in a low-resolution, black and white use.
    * Other Formats available at no additional charge: (your job).bmp, (your job).tif, (your job).pict, (your job).iff. Please advise your TLF designer of format requirements at completion of your logo and we would be happy to supply these in addition to the basic formats above.
    * Other Formats available at minimal charge: The Logo Factory can also supply .swf files(flat color-matched Flash format for rapid import into Macromedia Flash presentations), fully layered .sla files (layered, separated and labeled color-matched Flash source files that can be quickly animated using Macromedia Flash - All Flash formats are vector based and scalable for sizing on the web. The Logo Factory can also create Flash intro animations that can be used on web sites and as screensavers.), animated .gif files for non plug-in animation of the web. Charges for these formats depend on the complexity of your logo (contact our customer service department upon completion of your work for a detailed quote)

These formats are sufficient for most applications (web page, desktop publishing, word processing software and web animation). Should you require any further formats, we have the software, experience and ability to produce files and/or hard copies for any use. For further information on file formats visit our Technical Assistance section.

Is this logo design ready to use?

Absolutely. You will receive various formats that are ready to plug in to your own various applications, as well as deliver to service bureaus and/or printers for digital output and/or printing. It will be, as they say, ready to go.

What happens if I lose my files and/or artwork?

We archive ALL our design work, so we can always retrieve your designs should you lose your material. There is a $75 unarchiving fee for this service, so we highly recommend TLF clients purchase back-up CDs and/or purchase an online storage contract from our affiliate company The Logo Mechanics. For an initial modest investment, you can be assured of instant access to ALL your file formats from any browser.

Who own the rights to these images and/or designs?

Once your logo design project is completed - you do. The Logo Factory sends ALL copyright transfer documents with your final files. Copyright protection is automatic in ANY design creation. We can also assist you in trademarking your logo should you decide to go this more formal (and expensive) route. Should any ownership disputes arise, The Logo Factory will work with our clients to establish their proprietary rights.

Does The Logo Factory supply copyright transfers, legals and paperwork?

Yes. Once your design is completed, and your account settled, The Logo Factory will send out signed notices of copyright ownership and transfer with your artwork CD. These documents establish the original ownership of the design, as well as the transfer of copyright and ALL reproduction rights to you. We suggest that you sign a copy and return it to TLF, in order that we can keep these documents on record, in the unlikely event an ownership dispute should arise.

Can my logo be integrated into other projects (Web, Printing, etc)?

Absolutely. In fact many of our clients use our other services (Web Page design, FLASH animation, illustration, catalogues, etc.) because of our rates, experiences, and familiarity of their logo and/or requirements. Your logo will also be stored in our archives so it is a snap for us to create other artwork without any conversion and/or compatibility problems. Once clients become accustomed to our Factory Floor in-progress review sections, this is the most convenient and timesaving method of dealing with designers. In fact, we often have returning clients who have taken their digital files to local printers, been disappointed in quality and/or service and enlist The Logo Factory once again to finish the task.

What other services are available to tie my logo into my company 'look'?

Naturally, we can create other artwork such as illustration, graphics and treatments that can use your logo. We can create business cards, letterheads, brochures, FLASH animations, multimedia CD presentations - anything that you can print your logo on.
